Jornalista Merval Pereira é eleito presidente da Academia Brasileira de Letras

A cerimônia de posse só será realizada em março de 2022

O jornalista Merval Pereira foi eleito presidente da Academia Brasileira de Letras (ABL) para o ano de 2022. Ele vai substituir o poeta, romancista e ensaísta Marco Lucchesi, que ocupa a presidência desde 2018.

Merval tornou-se acadêmico em 2011 ao suceder Moacyr Scliar, que falecera em fevereiro daquele ano. Ele assume a presidência no próximo dia 9. A cerimônia de posse, no entanto, só será realizada em março de 2022.

Também foram eleitos, em sessão desta quinta-feira (2/12), no Rio de Janeiro, Nélida Piñon como secretária-geral, Joaquim Falcão,  primeiro-secretário, Celso Lafer, segundo-secretário, e Evaldo Cabral de Mello, tesoureiro.
