Dois brasileiros disputaram as eliminatórias do salto em distância nas Olimpíadas de Tóquio neste sábado (31/7). Alexsandro Melo e Samory Fraga, entretanto, não conseguiram avançar à final da competição.

A marca classificatória era de 8,15m, e quem chegou mais perto foi Samory, que anotou 7,88m logo em seu primeiro salto. Os últimos classificados para a final foram três saltadores, empatados em 7,96m: o chinês Huan Changzhou, o alemão Fabian Heinle e o finlandês Kristian Pulli.

O líder das eliminatórias foi o cubano Juan Miguel Echevarría, que marcou 8,50m na caixa de areia.
