Cecília Kethlen Araújo conquistou nesta quarta-feira (1º/9) sua primeira medalha paralímpica da carreira. A brasileira levou a prata na final feminina dos 50m livre da classe S8 (a oitava entre as 10 para deficientes funcionais) nas Paralimpíadas de Tóquio.

Cecília terminou a prova com o tempo de 30s83, atrás da russa Viktoriia Ishchiulova, com 29s91. A italiana Xenia Francesca Palazzo levou o bronze (31s17).

A brasileira fez sua estreia em Jogos Paralímpicos no Rio, em 2016, e não subiu ao pódio. Em Tóquio, além dos 50m livre S8, ela disputou os 100m livre S9, mas não avançou à final.
