Katie Nageotte conquistou o ouro no salto com vara das Olimpíadas de Tóquio-2020. Na final, a norte-americana saltou 4,90 m para conquistar o título.

Já campeã, Nageotte ainda colocou o sarrafo a 5,01 m, mas desistiu de saltar no meio da corrida.

Anzhelika Sidorova, do Comitê Olímpico Russo, conquistou a prata, com 4,85 m. A russa havia sido campeã mundial em Doha, no Qatar, em 2019 e era considerada a favorita da prova.

O bronze foi para a britânica Holly Bradshaw, que também obteve 4,85 m como melhor marca.
