Queniana conquista bicampeonato olímpico nos 1.500 m

Faith Kipyegon superou o favoritismo de Sifan Hassan e conquistou, nesta sexta-feira (6/8), o bicampeonato nas Olimpíadas de Tóquio

A queniana Faith Kipyegon, 27, superou o favoritismo de Sifan Hassan, 28, e conquistou, nesta sexta-feira (6/8), o bicampeonato dos 1.500 m nos Jogos de Tóquio-2020, com o tempo de 3min53s11, novo recorde olímpíco. Ela já havia vencido a mesma prova no Rio-2016.

Holandesa, nascida na Etiópia, Hassan já havia conquistado o ouro nos 5.000 m. Chegou a liderar os 1.500 m, mas não conseguiu acompanhar o sprint da queniana e terminou em terceiro lugar (3min55s86).

A prata foi para a britânica Laura Muir, com o tempo de 3min54s50.

Hassan ainda tentará outro ouro, nos 10.000 m.
