Erupção de vulcão em Tonga provoca tsunami no sul do Pacífico

A erupção de um vulcão submarino no arquipélago de Tonga provocou um tsunami no sul do Pacífico, neste sábado (15/01).

A base dos Estados Unidos na Samoa Americana confirmou o alerta de tsunami e disse que já há grandes ondas avançando sobre a região. Imagens compartilhadas nas redes sociais mostram as ondas avançando sobre as casas.


A erupção do vulcão submarino Hunga Tonga-Hunga Ha’apai foi registrada durante a madrugada. Ele fica localizado a de 65 km ao norte da capital de Tonga, Nuku’alofa.
