Os Estados Unidos completaram a retirada das tropas do Afeganistão no fim da tarde desta segunda (30, no horário de Brasília), colocando fim à guerra mais longa do país.

Mais de 122 mil pessoas foram retiradas de Cabul desde 14 de agosto, véspera da tomada do poder pelo grupo fundamentalista Talibã, que foi deposto na invasão americana em 2001.

O prazo final de retirada proposto pelo presidente americano, Joe Biden, era na terça-feira (31). Biden enfrenta forte pressão pela evacuação, considerada desastrosa por ter dado lugar ao Talibã de volta ao poder. As críticas cresceram ainda mais após o atentado suicida do último dia 26, que deixou quase 200 mortos.
