Ministra Rosa Weber é eleita presidente do STF

Posse está marcada para o dia 12 de setembro

A ministra Rosa Weber foi eleita nesta quarta-feira (10/8) presidente do Supremo Tribunal Federal (STF). A posse está marcada para 12 de setembro, quando o ministro Luiz Fux, atual presidente, completará mandato de 2 anos e deixará o comando da Corte.

Após a votação, a ministra recebeu os cumprimentos dos colegas e afirmou que está honrada em comandar o STF. A eleição é simbólica porque a ministra ocupa atualmente o cargo de vice-presidente.

“Em especial nesses tempos tumultuados que estamos vivendo, o exercício desse cargo trata-se de um imenso desafio. Vou procurar desempenhá-lo com toda seriedade e com a certeza o apoio de Vossas Excelências, que para mim será fundamental. Sempre na defesa da integridade e da soberania da Constituição e do regime democrático”, declarou.

Com a posse de Rosa Weber, o cargo de vice-presidente será exercido pelo ministro Luís Roberto Barroso.
